POSITIVITY OVER NEGATIVITY

Due wonder on how our minds shifts so easily and quickly in seconds from positives to negatives and from negatives to positives? Well this is the answer, our mind is the greatest weapon and as a well as blessing from the God. it shapes us to who we are everyday. it also shapes how we experiences life both positively and negatively depending on how we we think, perceive and respond to situations. How we train it defines us.

The human mind is a processing machine

This is a short story of mine

Last semester, we did a cat in one of the units we were doing but I failed terrible after weeks of studying the unit. i remember staring at the marks, feeling like my heart dropped. My mind went straight to negativity like: ” I am a failure, what is the point of even trying to study?” But then I had a friend of mine whom also failed and she told me, “This isn’t the end of world and we are gonna improve in our main exam.” She also told me, “that marks doesn’t define you. What you do next does.” Those words stuck with me and instead of staying in that negative mindset , I decided to take control. We studied together, revised all past papers and you know what the exam was super easy for us and we passed with confidence.

That experience taught me that positivity isn’t about pretending everything is okay. it is about believing things can improve, even when they are not okay yet

How the mind gives positives

1. positive thinking and outlook

As our mind is a powerful weapon, it should be to see good in situations. this promotes hope, confidence and resilience. even in the worst situations for example failure, it should be trained to see it as a learning opportunity.

2. Gratitude and mindfulness

We should give our focus on the present moment we are living in appreciating all the blessing we have right now, gift of life to do better and live better, gift of health that everyday we wake to see the beautiful sunrise, gift of family that we see them by our side everyday and every moments and all the other gift that have to remind us we are full of blessings. We should practice contentment on what we have as this will calm the soul and reduces stress and anxieties.

3. visualization and self belief

Having a vision and imaging success and a good positive outcome on what we do can help us boost our motivation, performance and encourages us to do best in our daily life activities. Believing in our own self and capabilities and self encouragements also help us in setting realistic goals and achieving them.

How the mind gives negatives

1. Negative thought pattern

Sometimes our minds creates thoughts which dwell on fear, doubt and criticism which lead to stress, anxieties , depression and low self-esteem. This results in affecting our actions and outcomes. For example believing ” i am not good enough” only can affects our mind giving us poor actions and outcomes because of not doing the best we could.

3. Overthinking and catastrophizing

Our mind creates notions which leads to overanalyzing situation both present and pasts which creates unnecessary worries and stresses. Sometimes we also think the worst case scenario and this affects our decision making leading to poor results.

4. self-sabotage

Negative inner dialogue can prevent us from giving a try and also finishing tasks. if we see failure or negative results we less likely to give our best shots. this can also often lead to procrastination or avoidance of the tasks.

Conclusion

Our minds acts as a filter; it can either fill our life with positivity or cloud with negativity. Negativity is easy to fall into especially when things do not go as we planned. But every challenge we face comes with a choice; to stay stuck in self-doubt or to rise with a mindset of growth. Choosing positivity does not mean ignoring the hard part of life. it means facing them with hope, resilient and the believe that better days are possible. No matter what you are going through; a failed exam, self-doubt or a tough season, remember, your thought shapes your direction. Start with one small shift, one positive thought, one brave decision to move forward. That is how transformation begins.

Positive affirmation

” I choose to see challenges as lessons, and I trust every setback is preparing me for a greater comebacks.”
